Attracting committee or board members is important. And attracting committee or board members that fit your group is even more important! Having a planned and systematic approach to renewing positions and keeping them lively and fresh will go a long way in keeping community groups sustainable.

This session will help community groups plan for their committee/boards’s succession by focusing on who is needed, what skills are required, how to find the right people and what contribution they can make. Doing this well will help promote a community group’s cause and maximise the potential for attracting the right volunteers to suit the organisation.

Topics include:
» Creating a succession plan
» Understanding how to divide up key committee/board roles and responsibilities
» Structuring committees/board to support the group’s activities
» Appreciating the changing landscape of volunteering and group membership
» Developing strategies for attracting and recruiting the right volunteers
» Planning and enabling knowledge transition.
