Wyndham City Council provides the Community Facility Subsidy to support Wyndham-based not for profit senior and disability groups to access space at council-owned community centres and community halls. The Community Facility Subsidy provides a contribution towards regular hire fees for eligible groups.

Community Facility Subsidy 2025
Please note:
- Applications for 2025 subsidy are open and be accepted at any time until funding is exhausted for the 2025 year.
Eligibility Criteria for 2025
- Applicants must be Wyndham-based not-for-profit, incorporated, or volunteer-based groups or organisations
- The activity must be a regular activity being provided to seniors (55+) and/or people with a disability
- Applicants must provide evidence that the activity is being promoted as an activity for seniors and/or people with a disability
- Applicants must receive minimal or no funding to run the activity
- Minimum 80% of activity participants needing to be seniors (55+) and/or people with a disability
- Minimum 80% of attendees must be Wyndham residents
- The activity must be open to welcoming new members
- The activity must be covered by Public Liability Insurance
What does the Subsidy cover
- The subsidy provides a contribution towards regular hire fees at one council-owned community centre or community hall, as listed below
- Hour cap: The subsidy covers up to 6 hours per week, subject to the funding cap and centre availability
- Funding cap: The maximum value of the subsidy is up to $4,000 per group, subject to budget availability
- It is council’s discretion as to the portion of the hire fees that are covered by the subsidy
- The subsidy applies to regular bookings (weekly, fortnightly, monthly) for the calendar year
How to apply for the Community Facility Subsidy
Complete the Community Facility Subsidy 2025 Application Form
- Community Group (applicant) to complete Form A
- Community Centre staff to complete Form B

Community Facility Subsidy 2026
There are changes to the Community Facility Subsidy (CFS) application. There are are no more paper applications, please talk to staff at your community centre.
New application Process for 2026:
1. Applicants speak with community centre staff about booking needs and go through the guidelines to ensure your group is eligible
2. Community centre staff will advise groups if your booking time is available, and provide a link to the Smarty Grants application form
3. Applicants register on SmartyGrants (A How to guide is available), ask at community centre
4. Applicants fill out the application by answering questions online, (previously form A) and upload the required documents; flyer and public liability insurance (PLI) certificate
5. Grants team will complete the Eligibility Form in Smarty grants and then forward task for the Community Centre staff to assess (previously form B)
6. Community centre staff assess and confirm that all booking information is correct.
7. Grants team will notify applicants and community centres of outcome in 6-8 weeks.
If your group hire costs are higher than the $4,000 maximum?
Your group must pay the extra amount. Community centre staff can discuss options to lower costs, such as reduce the number of hours, rooms, or frequency of bookings, or:
• Your group can consider other sources of funding, e.g., a membership cost, fundraising or applying for a different grant
• your group can pay for additional hours above $4,000, the usual hire fees apply
The subsidy is a fixed amount, if room hire prices increase, the group must cover extra costs.
