Wyndham's Building Blocks Community Leadership Program has been delivered in Wyndham since 2014. Designed to deliver on the objectives of both Wyndham City Plan and Wyndham 2040 community Vision as well as other council strategies, the program provides an opportunity for eligible residents to build and strengthen their capacity in community leadership and participation. This program aims to support the contribution of individuals towards Wyndham as a diverse, active, and well supported and connected community with high participation in local and municipal community life.
Wyndham's Building Blocks program is a FREE fully subsidised program for people who live, work, study, volunteer or play in Wyndham and who are interested in working collaboratively with others to develop and strengthen their community leadership and participation skills.
Program participation, unless otherwise noted, is for Wyndham people over 18 years, who wish to develop their leadership capacity and/or are a new and emerging leader. Please note that eligibility criteria and a selection process will apply.
2026 Building Blocks Community Leadership Program - United for Diversity
The new 2026 Wyndham's Building Blocks Community Leadership program will mobilise community leaders around being United for Diversity.
Wyndham is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, welcoming thousands of new residents each year keen to make Wyndham their home. It is a place where every resident can thrive.
As a participant in the United for Diversity Building Blocks Community Leadership Program you will develop your community leadership skills and apply your learning by working as part of a team to develop and run your own community project, funded by Wyndham City Council.
Following successful completion of the Building Blocks program, participants will be invited to join the Building Blocks Leadership Alumni to continue to network and explore opportunities to strengthen their leadership journey.
- Dates: A blend of in person and online sessions from 2 May to 13 June 2026, with Council funded community project to roll out in June-July 2026.
- Times: Wednesday evenings, 6.30pm – 8.30pm (online) & various Saturdays, 1-5pm (in person)
- Location: Wyndham Civic Centre, 45 Princes Highway, Werribee

Who is a community leader?
A community leader is a community member who mobilises and empowers others to make positive change within the Wyndham community through tangible actions with demonstrable community benefits.
The Building Blocks Community Leadership program’s objectives are:
- To provide participants with improved leadership skills and competencies, and a better understanding of civic participation and government.
- To ensure community capacity is built by providing opportunities for knowledge, skills and confidence to be applied.
- To contribute to a sustainable leadership framework that is inclusive, accessible and meets the needs of our diverse community.
- To deliver an enhanced community sector, through new community led initiatives and events and strengthened community organisations which serve residents of Wyndham.
