We also have many wetlands, some remnant and some constructed for water treatment that provide great habitat for a variety of wildlife. Explore Wyndham’s Biodiversity Sites.

Garden & Food Swaps

Markets & Swaps

Within Wyndham there a variety of markets and swaps which provides the opportunity to buy from local producers and artists or swap excess homemade and homegrown foods and gardening items with each other.

Sourcing locally also reduces carbon footprint, items that are sourced and consumed locally have less packaging and travel less to get to you.

Community Gardens

Community Gardens

Community Gardens bring people together and allow people to share gardening skills and learn new ones. They offer people a chance to grow and enjoy fresh produce even if they don’t have the space in their own homes.

Participating with community gardening activities can improve wellbeing through increased social contact, physical activity and being able to take home your own fresh organic produce.

Seed Sharing

Seed Sharing

Sharing seeds helps to build food resilience and promote sustainable gardens. Wyndham has a variety of seed libraries and seed sharing locations which stock fruits, vegetables and local plant varieties which individuals can borrow, allowing them to plant and grow their seeds at home, schools or community gardens.

Once the seeds have ripened and fully matured, seeds can be saved and returned to share with others. Growing from the seeds is a great way for children and young people to learn about the life cycle of plants and sustainable gardening.

If you know of a biodiversity site or a market & Swap, Community Garden or Seed Sharing group within Wyndham that should be on the Green Living Map email sustainability@wyndham.vic.gov.au
