Wyndham City Council stands on the traditional lands of the Bunurong and Wadawurrung Peoples.
For tens of thousands of years, the Werribee River has held profound significance as a place of gathering, connection, and cultural exchange for First Nations peoples. It forms a natural boundary between the lands of the Woiwurrung, Wathaurong, and Bunurong peoples.
The rivers, streams, and waterways of this region are of enduring importance to Traditional Owners, encompassing deep cultural, spiritual, social, economic, and environmental values.
Wyndham City Council pays its respect to Elders past and present, and acknowledges their continued custodianship of Country. We honour their enduring connection to land, water, and community, and recognise their vital role in caring for Country for future generations.
We also acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who live and work within this community and recognise a shared responsibility to foster understanding, respect, and collaboration.
Wyndham City Council is committed to strengthening relationships with First Nations peoples and working in partnership to support a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.
