Step into the vibrant world of street food, where every dish tells a story, and every bite brings people together. The Flavours of the Street Photography Competition invites photographers to capture not just the food, but the soul of street food culture - the people, the places, and the passion that make it all come alive.
Objective
This competition aims to celebrate the richness and diversity of global street food scenes by showcasing the warmth, authenticity, and human stories behind each dish. We’re looking for photographs that do more than just look delicious — they should capture the faces behind the flavours, the hands that prepare each meal, and the shared joy of eating together on the streets.

Important dates
All submissions must be received by 10 August 2025 by 12noon.
Shortlisted artists informed and invited to submit high resolution photos: 1 September 2025.
Exhibition at Saltwater Community Centre: 26 September - 26 November 2025
Closing event and prize distribution: 22 November at Saltwater Community Centre, 153 Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook VIC 3030

Assessment Criteria
Culinary Authenticity
Images must truthfully reflect street food as it is experienced in its local context — rooted in tradition, culture, and place.
Visual Temptation
Use creative composition, natural lighting, and dynamic styling to make the food visually irresistible, while keeping it real and grounded.
Human Connection
Every image should include people — whether it's the vendor, the eater, or the passersby — to highlight the relationships, culture, and community that make street food so special.
Respectful Representation
Portray all individuals and cultural elements with dignity and care, honouring the heritage, skill, and stories behind each culinary moment.
Shortlisted Submissions
Up to 40 shortlisted images will be chosen to be part of an exhibition at the Saltwater Community Centre.
Submission Details
Each participant may submit up to three photographs.
Submissions must be received by Sunday 10 August 2025 by midnight.
Submissions should be in digital format (JPEG or PNG)
Please include a brief description (max 200 words) for each photograph, offering insights into the cultural context or significance of the image.
If your image is shortlisted:
You will be contacted to submit higher resolution images for printing
All images must be 300DPi at 420x297mm (A3).
All shortlisted images will be displayed in the Saltwater Community Centre, 153 Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook VIC 3030 from 26 Sept - 26 Nov, 2025.
