Order a household waste bin

Wyndham City delivers three core waste collection services tailored to our community's needs.

Your property should have: 

  • a garbage bin (red lid)
  • a recycle bin (yellow lid)

Green waste bins (green lid) will be rolled out to all households in the Wyndham City Council area from February 2026. 

Requesting Bins for a New Home

You can order Garbage (red lid) and Recycle (yellow lid) bins for a newly constructed house.

You will receive a green waste bin (green lid) from February 2026.

The property must be occupied before bins will be delivered. Once you are in the house and the bins are ordered, the bins will be delivered to the nature strip within 2 working days.

House number must be displayed. If no number is displayed, the delivery of the bins may be delayed.

Ordering an additional bin

Property owners or managing agents need to order bins for a home. Managing agents can apply with proof they are looking after the home with a:

  • Service agreement , or
  • Written confirmation on a letterhead

Charges as per the below table will apply based on the month Council receives the application. Charges will be added to the next rates notice and apportioned across the remaining rates instalments.

No charge for the remainder of the 2025-26 financial year. 2026-27 charges, which are adopted in the 2026-27 budget, will commence from 1 July 2026 and appear on the rates notice.

  1. If you wish to cancel the service in the following financial year, please submit a bin cancellation request before 23 June to prevent the non-refundable charge from re-occurring.
  2. Owners in the process of selling their property are not required to cancel their additional bin service.
  3. In 2025-26 Wyndham City will be providing a green-lid Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) bin to every household that receives a Council waste service but does not have a green lid bin as yet.  From 1 July 2025, the green-lid FOGO bin will be part of the 2025-26 waste service charge.  A green-lid FOGO bin will be delivered to every household in 2025-26. Cancelling an optional green waste bin is not an option.

  1. Call us at 1300 023 411. Our Customer Services team will process the request over the phone.
  2. Visit us: Wyndham City Council, 45 Princes Highway, Werribee VIC 3030. Our Customer Service team will provide you with a form to complete and return.
     

Cancelling a Bin

Cancel your additional bin

From 1 July 2025, customers will no longer be able to opt out of or cancel their standard green-lid Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) bin service. However, if you have more than one green bin, you may still request to cancel any additional bins.

Reporting a Missed Collection

Reports of a bin being missed during collection should be reported no later than the following working day to ensure the waste truck can return to your area.

When you have submitted a request you will need to:

  • Leave the bin out
  • Allow two working days for the waste truck to return

Reporting a Damaged bin

Bins are generally repaired/replaced within 2 working days after your scheduled collection. 

To allow for the repair of your damaged garbage (yellow lid) bin you will need to:

  • Ensure the bin is empty
  • Once your bin has been emptied on your scheduled collection day, please leave the empty, damaged bin on the nature strip
  • The bin will be repaired/replaced within 2 working days – if this does not occur, please contact Wyndham City on 1300 023 411.

Important note: Wyndham are undertaking a bin changeover program to ensure our bins are consistent with Australian standards.  This means if you had a yellow lidded garbage bin that went missing, you will receive a new 140L, red lidded bin in its place.
