Wyndham is home to an innovative bioenergy project that captures biogas that is used to power up to 9000 homes.
The biogas is captured from organic waste disposed at the Wyndham Refuse Disposal Facility in Werribee and converted into power at the Wyndham Bioenergy Facility, which is also located onsite.
The Wyndham Bioenergy Facility is owned and operated by LMS Energy, who has been generating clean, reliable power for the community from landfill gas since 2003.
As one of Australia’s most successful bioenergy projects, this facility demonstrates how councils and industry can work together to transform harmful landfill gas emissions into valuable renewable energy.
The partnership between Wyndham City and LMS Energy plays an important role locally in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, supporting local renewable energy targets, and helping create a cleaner, greener future for our growing community.
