Preserving Multicultural Women's Traditional Ecological Knowledge

Preserving Migrant and Refugee Women’s Traditional Knowledge 2025 was a creative, plant‑based project that celebrated and safeguarded multicultural women’s traditional knowledge of plants.

Through workshops, cultural exchanges, and expert-led sessions in naturopathy and women’s health, participants explored how plant traditions supported wellbeing and identity. They learnt ethical foraging, joined nature excursions, and created textile artworks reflecting their stories.

Led by MWV textile artist Sofie Dieu, in collaboration with Wyndham City and Monash University, the free program brought together 20 women in Wyndham. Held at Penrose Promenade Community Centre, it fostered connection, cultural pride, and creativity.

This project was funded by the Multicultural Grassroots Initiative – Australian Federal Government and Wyndham City Council.
