Wyndham Bin Lids are Changing

The majority of bin lids across Wyndham have now been changed to meet Australian Standards and make recycling easier.

The bin lid colours are:

  • Red lid for your garbage bin
  • Yellow lid for your recycling bin
  • Green lid for the green waste bins (no change)

Thank you to everyone across Wyndham who popped their bins out during this project. We are excited to share that we had a high percentage of bins being presented by residents making the project go a lot smoother for our team.

In the coming weeks the team will be ensuring that the remaining bin lids are changed over. We will tag these bins during a normal collection day, indicating when and how this will occur.

There is no need to be concerned if your bin lid has not been changed as yet. We will collect your bins even if they have the outdated coloured lids. Our contractors know how to spot the differences. But if you have any questions please contact Council on 1300 023 411.

If your bin is damaged and needs repairing you can report this by visiting our website: www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/services/waste-recycling/bin-requests

Bins are usually repaired or replaced within two business days after your normal collection day. You will need to ensure your bin is empty so it can be repaired.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why are you changing the lid colours?

We are changing the colours of your bin lids to ensure that Wyndham’s colours comply with Australian Standards, it is a requirement of the Victorian Government to standardise the bin lid colours.

The standard bin lid colours will make it easier for you to put the right thing in the right bin, no matter where you are. Consistent colours will help new residents from other parts of Victoria know how to use our bins correctly.

Ultimately, this update will help everyone recycle more, reduce the amount of waste sent to our refuse disposal facility (landfill), save our community money in landfill costs and help to protect the environment.
