“A safe, connected and inclusive community. We respect, acknowledge, value and celebrate the First Nations people, our heritage, cultural diversity and multicultural strengths.
Our community has the infrastructure and services it needs to support holistic health and wellbeing for all. Local employment and education facilities are plentiful, and there are a variety of recreational, leisure, tourism, art and cultural opportunities for everyone to experience throughout the municipality.
We preserve our natural environment and rural lifestyle; we are able to get around easily and get to where we want to go efficiently. We are self-sufficient and pride ourselves on being green and sustainable.”
This is our community’s vision for Wyndham in 2040.
Refreshing the Vision
In 2021, Council launched the ‘Help Shape Wyndham’s Future’ project to refresh the existing Wyndham 2040 Community Vision. This included a deliberative community engagement process that acknowledged and recognised the stories and contributions that informed the first Wyndham 2040 Vision. This formed the foundation by which the community refreshed the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision in 2021.
Watch this short video for an overview of how our community refreshed the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision.
At these community conversations, a set of place based priorities were also developed. The place based priories help us understand the unique needs of our community and will inform the development of the Council Plan and other key strategic documents.
Council's initial responses to these place based priorities are detailed here. These will be reviewed and the community updated annually.
2021-2022 Wyndham 2040 Community Vision Progress Report
A report has been developed outlining the progress made toward the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision during 2021-2022.
This report presents information as to how the community’s place based priorities identified in the Community Vision have been progressed.
The report also presents the results against the indicators that have been assigned to each theme of the Vision to track progress. These results were collated from a range of data sources including the Tracking the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision Survey.
The progress of the Community Vision will be reviewed again in full at the end of the 2023-2024 financial year.
A report on the progress made on the Community Vision during 2021-2022 is available.
Tracking the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision Survey 2021 - 2022
The Tracking the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision Survey 2021 – 22 is just one of the inputs used to assess the progress of Wyndham 2040 Community Vision. The survey was completed by a representative sample of members of Wyndham’s People’s Advisory Panel.
The survey measured a wide range of social, economic, and land use issues aimed at gaining a sense of how satisfied residents are with aspects of living in Wyndham.
In line with Council’s commitment to tracking the progress of the Community Vision, it will be undertaken every 2 years. The next Tracking the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision Survey will be conducted in June/July 2024.
The Wyndham 2040 Community Vision will guide how Council directs the resources under its control, and therefore its work. It sets the direction for future Council policies and work including the Municipal Strategic Statement, Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, Asset Plan and Long-Term Financial Plan.
