In accordance with the Domestic Animals Act 1994, Wyndham City Council requires dogs to be leashed in all public places except within designated Dog Off Lead Areas. Dogs and owners can enjoy numerous designated Dog Off Lead Areas throughout the municipality.

In line with the Dog Off Leash Plan, Council is working on delivering a network of Dog Off lead Areas to cater to the growing demand. Upcoming Dog Off Lead Areas have been mapped and will be available for public use once construction is completed.
Conditions of use
To ensure everyone can enjoy our off-lead areas safely, all dog handlers must follow these rules at all times:
1. Entering and Exiting the Area
Your dog must be on a lead:
- Until you and your dog have fully entered the off-lead area.
- Before you and your dog leave the off-lead area.
2. Always Carry a Lead
You must carry a lead at all times. It must be strong enough to control your dog (chain, cord, or leash).
3. Dog Tag and Identification
Your dog must wear a collar with its current registration tag at all times. If the collar is removed, attach the tag to the lead.
4. Control and Supervision
Dogs must stay within your sight and hearing range at all times and respond when called.
You must be able to recall your dog immediately when needed.
5. Respect Others
If another dog or person is nearby, recall and restrain your dog until they pass.
In fenced off-lead enclosures, recall your dog when someone enters or exits to avoid conflict or escape.
6. Keep Out of Waterways
Dogs must not enter any creeks, lakes, or waterways within off-lead areas.
7. Protect Wildlife
Do not allow your dog to chase, harass, or attack any wildlife.
8. Dogs That Must Stay On-Lead
Do not allow your dog off-lead if it:
-Is aggressive to people or other dogs
-Has not been socialised
-Chases moving objects like bikes
-Is in season
-Has been declared menacing, dangerous, or a restricted breed
9. Clean Up After Your Dog
-You must pick up and properly dispose of dog waste.
-Carry bags or a receptacle at all times.
Failing to do so is an offence under the Community Amenity Local Law (2015).
10. Using Designated Off-Lead Areas
Only use signed and designated off-lead areas.
