Following the Federal Government’s announcement restricting social and group sport, Wyndham sporting reserves can no longer be used for group sport, including team sports. Solo exercise is permitted but please maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres between individuals.

We know the important role sport plays in our community, and our sports grounds, pavilions and open spaces are hubs for sport, recreation, community and a healthy and active lifestyle.

As we continue to do all we can in order to minimise the spread of Covid-19 throughout our community, we have made the very difficult decision to not accept any new bookings for sportsgrounds, pavilions or open spaces as of today (Tuesday, 17 March).

If your group has existing community sport and recreation bookings, Council will liaise with you and the relevant peak bodies to ensure the local clubs and groups are supported to make informed decisions about the ongoing delivery of their activities.

Over the past week we have seen local Basketball, Netball, Rugby Union, and Dog Obedience suspend their activities until further notice due to concerns for  participants and the spread of Covit-19.

While we acknowledge this may cause a level of disappointment amongst participants, it isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly.

As this situation is evolving rapidly, it is important that we as a Council are proactive and responsive, putting our community’s wellbeing at the forefront of all decisions we make and we thank you for your understanding.

If you suspect that you or a family member has COVID-19 you should call (not visit) your GP or ring the national COVID-19 Information Hotline on 1800 020 080.
