Missed out on tickets? Mark your diaries for 9am on Wednesday 23 October for a final limited ticket release. If you are a ticket holder that can no longer attend, we encourage you to cancel your tickets so extra tickets can be made available for those that missed out.

This much-loved free Wyndham City event will be held on Sunday 27 October at Werribee Park, 10am – 4pm.

Enjoy a fun-filled day of adventure, with interactive music, art, craft and sports activities for the kids.

The fresh new program will include Jugg Life – a thrilling performance by two of Australia’s best jugglers with live percussion and incredible skills. Watch as they escalate from a simple drumbeat to a whirlwind of props in the air!

TikTok sensation Lenny Pearce is one of the fastest rising artists in global dance music and is a superstar of the children’s entertainment world. Join him as he remixes your kids' favourite anthems.

Also on stage, pop duo Turtle and Sugar Rush from All the Queens Men will bring you Play Date, a performance celebrating identity, body positivity and the power of imagination.

Melbourne Puppet Kerfuffle will spread joy with their entertaining puppet show and have the whole family dancing as they perform together with much-loved kids’ band, Whistle & Trick.

There’ll be an opportunity to discover Māori culture with Ngā Mātai Pūrua Inc through traditional songs, dance and kapa haka and to get creative at the See Make Play marquee, with hands-on crafting fun for everyone.

This year, the team behind ’The Super Amazing Dolphin Show’ are back with the world premiere of Snow Globe, commissioned by Wyndham City. Come and peer into the globe for a wonderful and surreal adventure with a lost explorer and a magical bunny.

Snow Globe is a must-see this year – full of exploration, discovery, music, dancing, giant ice blocks and even snow!

The little ones will also love the new Little Bubs Zone with soft and messy play areas, while the bigger kids can head to the Active Kids Zone, which will feature a range of sporting activities to try and a mini-traffic school.

Enjoy a delicious lunch or treat from food trucks or bring your own picnic to enjoy on the lawn.

TICKETS & EVENT ENTRY

Tickets

Children’s Week Picnic is a popular free event run by Wyndham City Council. A pre-booked ticket is required for entry. Free tickets will be available to book from www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/childrensweekpicnic  on Monday 7 October from 9am.

If you have not pre-booked a ticket, please do not attend the event.

Ticketholders who find they can no longer attend are kindly asked to cancel their booking so we can make tickets available to others.

Please bring your tickets and have them ready to show at the event entrance.

Event Entry

Gates open at 10am. Tickets will be checked at entry gates.

Free children’s wristbands are provided prior to the event entrance and at the Information marquee. Parents or carers can write their phone number on the wristband and put around the wrist of their child. This helps us to quickly reunite you with your child should they get lost during the event. Please ensure a phone number for a parent or carer who is at the event is written on the wristband.

Please supervise your children at all times.

ACCESSIBILITY

We are committed to making the Children’s Week Picnic an inclusive and accessible event. We are always looking to improve accessibility measures. If you have specific requirements, please reach out, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Accessibility Information

  • Accessible Parking is available  close to the event entrance for those displaying a valid permit in their vehicle window.
  • Auslan interpretation will be included on the main stage.
  • Accessible toilets are located at various locations – please check the event map for details. There are no toilets with a hoist or shower facilities onsite.
  • Werribee Park is a large park which takes time to get around. Is approximately a 5 minute walk from the parking area to the event entrance, and a further 5 minutes from the event entrance to the main event site. A large portion of the event is held on grassed areas, with gravel paths throughout the site. The site is mostly flat and there are no stairs.
  • A Sensory Space is provided at the event to provide a quiet space for people to self-regulate and assist with reducing sensory input. The space will be located in a quieter area of the event and will feature comfortable furniture and sensory tools. Please check the event map for details.
  • Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Initiative – this event supports this initiative. Trained staff members will be wearing a Sunflower Badge. Wyndham Residents can pick up one free Sunflower product from anyWyndham City Council Library.

  • Social Story - The Social Story helps people to prepare for what to expect when attending this event. There will also be some printed copies available to collect from the Sensory Space.

GETTING TO THE EVENT

Childrens Week Picnic is held in the Werribee Park Precinct located at K Road, Werribee South.

Werribee Park is 35 km west of Melbourne city.

Parking

There is free parking on site and traffic management will be in place. Please follow all road and traffic detours and be respectful of instructions provided to ensure you safely arrive and exit the event. We appreciate your patience and suggest that you allow extra time to get to and from the event.

 Accessible Parking

Accessible car parking will be available on site to those displaying a valid permit.

Free Event Shuttle bus

The event shuttle bus will be running direct to the event from Werribee Train Station located at Comben Drive drop off and pick up zone. It is recommended to utilise the free event shuttle rather than PTV buses to get to the event due to drop off location.

Buses will depart hourly from Comben Drive (Werribee Train Station) and Werribee Park (Event).

Public Transport

It is not recommended to utilise the 439 PTV bus service to get to the event as they will not be stopping on K Road or Main Drive during event timings.

If you are arriving by train at Werribee Train Station, there is a free event shuttle bus departing hourly to take you to the event, located on Comben Drive.

EVENT ACTIVITIES & PROGRAM

Event Times

The event begins at 10am and runs until 4pm. We suggest you allow 3-4hrs to enjoy the event, but you could easily spend all day!

Activities

The event and all the activities are free! The only things you may need to pay for are food if you want to purchase anything or retail goods from market stalls.

A range of local businesses will be providing free activities and promoting their services. A range of Wyndham City Council services will also be hosting stalls at the event – it’s a great opportunity to meet council officers and find out more about community projects and services within Wyndham.

The event is aimed at children aged 0-12 years old. There will be a huge range of interactive activities with a focus on education and learning. The event provides a great opportunity for children to explore new experiences.

FOOD & DRINK

You are welcome to pack a picnic to BYO food and non-alcoholic drinks. There will also be a variety of delicious food trucks providing various sweet, savoury and drinks (including dietary and children’s options) for purchase onsite.

Cashless payments are recommended wherever possible, however please be aware there is NO ATM onsite.

VENUE INFORMATION

Toilets

All gender toilets including accessible toilets will be in various locations throughout the event site.

Baby feeding and nappy changing

Facilities will be located within the Australian Breastfeeding Association marquee, and we have introduced this year, two fitted out Parent Pods for privacy when changing and feeding.

Accessible toilets also be equipped with change tables. Hand Wash Stations are available.

Water

A water fountain is available onsite with water bubblers and taps for filling up bottles. We recommend that you bring your own water bottle.

Seating

There is limited seating at the event. You are welcome to bring your own picnic chairs and rugs. For safety reasons, shelter structures such as shade umbrellas and marquees are not permitted.

Pets 

With the exception of assistance dogs, pets and animals are not permitted to be brought to Werribee Park.

WHAT TO BRING

Please come prepared for all weather including bringing an umbrella and wearing appropriate clothing. We recommend you bring a hat, water bottle, sunscreen, picnic rug, umbrella and jacket.

Sunscreen will be available at the event entrance and Information marquee located on the central lawn.

PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING

Live streaming or broadcasting of this event is not permitted. Commercial photography is not permitted without prior permission from Wyndham City Council.  Filming/photography and other media requests can be directed to media@wyndham.vic.gov.au

A Council photographer will be taking some happy snaps on the day! We’ll share these on our social media and websites. If don’t want your photo taken, just let our photographer and event staff know on the day!
