As a carer of an older person, a person with a disability or a person with a mental illness, there are a number of Government and non-Government funded programs and support services available to you. These programs can be highly beneficial both in supporting you with your basic day to day needs and can in turn help you in maintaining your own health and wellbeing.
Wyndham City also provides “The Carer Support Group” which meets on the third Tuesday of every month from 1 - 3pm at ISIS Primary Care, 117 - 129 Waringa Crescent, Hoppers Crossing 3029.
The Carer Card Program is a collaboration between the government, businesses and the community that recognises the work Carers provide. This program has a wide range of discounts and benefits on offer from businesses, Local Government and community organisations.
There are a number of resources to connect you to local and national support networks including:
- National Disability Insurance Scheme
- Carers Gateway
- Carer Well-being
- Carers Australia
- Carers Victoria
- Carers Victoria Respite Connection (Formerly Carers West)
