Meet The Judges

Cameron Borg
Cameron Borg is a Wyndham local and two-time winner of the Way Out West Best Landscape Prize. Cameron’s interests include aerial and landscape photography, as well as cinematic FPV. 

Matto Lucas
Matto Lucas is an award-winning photographer, videographer, designer, and artist based in Naarm, Melbourne.

Matto has been a freelance image-maker for over a decade with experience working in professional studios, family portrait studios, photo retouching, moving image and video making, graphic and artistic design, and artwork production. He has created work for organisations such as ANZ, NAB, Melbourne University VCA, City of Boroondara, City of Yarra, Bayside City Council, Hobsons Bay City Council, Midsumma, LCI Collingwood, Australian Institute of Music, and many more.

Matto has a strong passion for photography, image-making and particularly, portraiture and event photography. He is an academic lecturer in the creative field and loves having a chat about photography.

Jill Velinos
Jill Velinos is a family and portrait photographer based in the western suburbs of Melbourne. She primarily uses natural light and adopts a documentary approach with her family and portrait subjects. Her most recent achievement was being a finalist in 2021’s National Photographic Portrait Prize and her work was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra.  

Prizes

Entrants are encouraged to submit images using the prize categories as creative prompts:

  • Grand Prize ($500)
    Awarded to the best photograph in the competition based on content and artistic merit
  • Way Out West Prize ($100)
    Awarded to the image that best captures life in Wyndham
     
  • Best Landscape ($100)
    Awarded to the image that best captures a landscape
  • Best Portrait ($100)
    Awarded to the image that best captures a portrait
  • Best Black and White Image ($100)
    Awarded to the image that uses black and white effects with the greatest skill/creativity
  • Best Use of Colour ($100)
    Awarded to the image that uses/captures colour with the greatest skill/creativity
