It’s time to unleash your inner warrior – Spartan is coming to Werribee in 2024.

Spartan Australia has signed a three-year agreement to host Spartan events in Wyndham, with the first event to be held 3-4 August at Werribee Racecourse.

Billed as “an event of pure primitive craziness that you’ll never forget”, Spartan is the world's leading obstacle race series and promotes a unique culture and community of participants working together to overcome obstacles.

Adults have the choice of testing their mettle against a five-kilometre Sprint featuring 20 obstacles, or a 10-kilometre Super course with 25 obstacles.

There’s also a kid’s race featuring obstacles over one to three kilometres and is open to children aged from four to 14.

Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Jennie Barrera, said this announcement was a testament to Council’s reputation for delivering and attracting major events.

“We are excited and honoured that Spartan Australia will be delivering events right here in Wyndham over the next three years,” Cr Barrera said.

“This weekend-long event is the perfect opportunity for participants to enjoy all the great accommodation, food, nature and cultural experiences that Werribee and surrounds has to offer.”

“This event delivers on the core premise of our Wyndham Visitor Economy Strategy 2024-2028, which aims to foster a sustainable and prosperous visitor economy in Wyndham.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing participants in action down at Werribee Racecourse and cheering them on as they work together to tackle each obstacle.”

Spartan Australia CEO Russell Nelms added: “Choosing Werribee for our Spartan event was a strategic move, driven by the perfect blend of delivering a premium experience for the racers and their families, not just at the event but all of the other amazing things the region has to offer.”

“Wyndham's reputation for excellence in major events and festivals aligns seamlessly with Spartan's mission to redefine the standard for a sensational event and have an exceptional stay, experiencing all that is on offer in the Werribee area.”

“It's a winning combination that ensures every Spartan event is not just a race but a retreat in style.”

For those wanting to be part of the action without tackling the course, event organisers are taking registrations for volunteers to help throughout the weekend.
