Work will begin in early 2024 and will deliver a skate park, sports courts, open lawn for events, BBQ and picnic facilities, shade and seating, a toilet block, car parking, landscaping and other amenities.

This project includes a $1.5 million Growing Suburbs Fund grant from the Victorian Government.

Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder, Councillor Peter Maynard, said the project would transform an unused part of the reserve into a sporting and recreational hub.

“Once complete, this Gateway and Youth Precinct will be a great space for our young people and the broader community – particularly in Williams Landing, Laverton North and Truganina – to engage in sport and have fun,” Cr Maynard said.

“It will also serve as the gateway to the remainder of the reserve, which includes the recently redeveloped motocross track.”

“This project is an offshoot of the broader Lawrie Emmins Reserve Master Plan that Council adopted in 2019 and will deliver a valuable open space for the community.”

“I’m pleased to say the final design for this project was informed through a community engagement process that included a youth workshop at Tarneit Senior College and an online survey seeking feedback about the draft concept plan.”
