Wyndham City invites community feedback to help develop ‘Creative Wyndham’ – a strategy that will celebrate the City’s diverse local creative programming, infrastructure and creative economy initiatives.

The strategy will include a vision and framework that recognises the challenges inherent to a rapidly growing City and align with Wyndham’s 2040 Vision.

Creative Wyndham will act as a roadmap to help Council plan for the delivery of creative and cultural programs, further developing a creative economy, arts industry growth and Council infrastructure to increase our City's vibrancy.

The Creative Wyndham Strategy aims to identify:

  • The role of the arts and creativity in programming entertaining and social connection
  • Art as a driver for events and visitor attraction
  • The role of the arts in making our community public spaces more attractive, safe and engaging
  • The role of creative industries in a resilient local economy and the role of the arts in celebrating diversity.

The strategy will build on and consider the breadth of creative programming that Council services currently deliver across performing and visual arts, arts development, creative event programming, libraries, community centres, youth services, public open spaces and cultural venues.

Wyndham City’s Creative City portfolio holder, Councillor Marcel Mahfoud said Wyndham is a bold, creative leader in the arts space and looked forward to community feedback to help to position Wyndham to continue to deliver strong creative programs, activities and events.

“We encourage feedback from those who participate and those who do not currently participate in creative activities in Wyndham,” he said.

“We are a rapidly growing community, and it is important that we plan for a healthy creative future that caters and invests in our diverse community’s needs.”

“It is important that the strategy we develop reflects our City’s cultural diversity and also the range of artistic disciplines that are practised in Wyndham – from dance, performing arts, craft, storytelling and everything in between.”

“We’re keen to support community-led creative activity and look forward to hearing a range of views to help shape the development of the Creative Wyndham strategy.”

“We’re here to support local ideas, and vision for a Creative Wyndham!”
