Wyndham City is calling on men aged 18 and over living or working in the West, to take up a free 10-week health program that takes a holistic approach to improving men’s health.

Wyndham City is partnering with the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation and Western Leisure Services to deliver the intensive program for men at Eagle Stadium and will provide participants with the tools and knowledge to improve their health and wellbeing.

Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio holder, Cr Peter Maynard said: “Sons of the West is an invaluable program aimed to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of men in the West through a series of workshops, presentations, and events.”

“Men of all fitness levels who are seeking to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make new connections will benefit from the program.”

“Sons of the West makes exercise and healthy eating fun and easily integrated into everyday life.”

“Another positive change men make in their lives following this program, is improved contact with health services.”

“Many past participants now make visiting doctors, dentists, or specialised services such as counselling or physiotherapy, part of their regular health routine.”

“The two-hour weekly sessions are highly interactive and men who attend will get the chance to hear about a range of interesting topics that affect them and their families.”

“I encourage men who want to improve their physical and mental health to come along and take part in Sons of the West. It is a great way to make positive personal change and meet friends along the way.”

There are two Sons of the West sessions. Starting on 6 March 2024, Wednesday morning from 11.30am to 1.30pm and Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and will run for 10 weeks.

This free program is funded by Wyndham City Council with support from the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation and their partner organisations WorkSafe Victoria,  cohealth and Watergardens.
