Wyndham City is proud to celebrate Neighbourhood House Week 2025, highlighting the vital role its Community Centres play in community wellbeing and connection.
Neighbourhood House Week is an annual national celebration recognising the role of neighbourhood houses and community centres.
This year’s theme is "Ripples of Change"! – every action, no matter how small, has the power to create a ripple effect — spreading kindness, sparking ideas, and strengthening communities.
This year, from 12 to 18 May, Wyndham City’s Community Centres are hosting various fun, free and low-cost activities like Yoga, Tai Chi, Woodworking, Cake Making, Gardening, Painting and much more.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Mia Shaw, encouraged Wyndham residents to come along to one of the sessions and learn new skills, make new friends, and feel connected to the community.
“Did you know there are 18 Community Centres across Wyndham? Chances are there is one not too far from where you live,” Cr Shaw said.
“Neighbourhood House Week is the perfect opportunity to join us at one of our Community Centres who are hosting various fun, free and low-cost activities.”
“Our Community Centres play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of Wyndham residents as they provide an accessible, inclusive space to strengthen and support the community connections of individuals and families.”
Residents are encouraged to drop in, meet their neighbours, and discover the services and opportunities available right on their doorstep.
Key Highlights of the Week:
- Jam and Chutney making on Monday 12 May at Iramoo Community Centre
- Community Mural and Breakfast on Thursday 15 May at Dianella Community Centre
- Q&A with Jay, Local Gardening Specialist on Friday 16 May at Tarneit Community Learning Centre
