Between 4 August and 15 November 2025, a creative plant-based journey unfolded where Wyndham City in collaboration with Monash University, hosted a unique, community-led research project that celebrated plant knowledge and cultural heritage.

The free program invited 20 migrant and former refugee women living in Wyndham to come together and explore the power of plants in food, medicine, and ceremonies through creativity and culture.

Held across various locations in Wyndham, including Penrose Promenade Community Centre, the project honoured plant knowledge passed down through generations and how it lived in participants' everyday lives.

Together, participants shared stories, explored traditional practices, and connected through creative expression.

The program included:

  • Creative textile and craft gatherings
  • Inspiring local excursions
  • Sessions with qualified naturopaths
  • Story-sharing interviews in a safe, welcoming space

No prior experience was needed — just each woman’s voice, heritage, and creative spirit.
