For more than sixty years AMES has been assisting refugees and migrants build their new life in Australia through settlement, English language courses, vocational training and employment services.

Volunteering with AMES provides opportunities to support these services and make a positive contribution to social inclusion in our increasingly diverse communities.

Volunteer Positions Available

As a volunteer tutor you will assist newly arrived migrants and refugees to learn English, make links to the community and generally understand the Australian way of life. Tutoring (1 to 2 hours per week) is undertaken in the home, at an AMES site or in a community location in response to student and tutor availability. Tutors are required to speak, read and write English confidently and enjoy meeting people from other cultures. Ongoing training and support is provided.
