Wyndham City invites local community groups to share their interest and expectations for an affordable venue space that could host traditional ‘town hall’ style activities for groups of up to 500 -1,500 people.

Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Mia Shaw said the consultation aimed to manage future infrastructure needs for a large, affordable space for community groups in Wyndham to meet.

“Our current population of 337,000 people is set to soar to more than 500,000 by 2050,” she said. “Wyndham provides a range of community facilities for services and activities, including meeting spaces and we understand there’s growing community interest in large affordable and flexible multipurpose spaces that can be used for large scale events and gatherings.”

“We’re keen to understand how residents would likely use the space, and what they would like included.”

“For example, it could be used for major events and festivals like Diwali, Holi or Carols by Candlelight. It could even host classic and vintage car displays, markets, food festivals, art exhibitions – the possibilities are endless.”

“At this early stage, we are focused on listening and learning — no location has been determined and no funding has been committed yet for design or construction. Community feedback will help guide future planning.”
