To be attributed to Wyndham City Deputy Mayor Cr Josh Gilligan:

“Information Technology systems are fundamentally expensive – especially for large, complex organisations such as Wyndham City.”

“Indeed, it’s not unusual to spend around $10 million annually on IT products that support the business functions and operations of a large Council.”

“In August 2018, Council entered a contract with Oracle Corporation Australia Pty Ltd (Oracle) for the provision of an Enterprise Resource Platform (ERP) – software that was designed to combine multiple business functions into one platform.”

“After four years, it became clear that the system had failed to produce the expected results.”

“The current Chief Executive, and the then Director Corporate Services, engaged an independent auditor to review the system in 2022, which led to the contract being terminated and a new contract signed with TechnologyOne.”

“The staged implementation of the TechnologyOne project – otherwise known as the Wyndham Systems Transformation Project – has been a success.”

“Our Audit and Risk Committee – which includes four independent members –acknowledged this, saying it was being delivered on time and on budget in its Biannual Audit and Risk Committee Report, tabled in Council on 22 July.”

“Matthew Hilakari MP knows only too well there can be cost over-runs in major projects. The Victorian Government is experiencing significant blowouts, with technology platform costs at Greater Western Water more than $50 million in the red, $37 million in cost over-runs at Court Services Victoria and $30 million at WorkSafe.”
