About the Youth Space

Upgraded with a State Government grant, The Youth Space installed near the basketball court, will allow Wyndham City’s Youth Services team to engage young people through sport and recreation activities.

It is designed to be a supportive, welcoming area for young people, a place that encourages connection, wellbeing, and participation. The Street Surfer Bus Team from Wyndham City Youth Services will join the launch event, continuing their long-standing engagement with the Little River community.

Together, the aim is to create opportunities that support young people and strengthen community ties.

Mural

The Youth Space will feature a vibrant mural that reflects the beauty of the local region. Inspired by the nearby You Yangs and the surrounding landscape, the mural will reflect an open landscape in a natural palette of colours ensuring it blends harmoniously with the park and local environment.

This mural is more than just art, it’s a celebration of Little River’s natural beauty and a commitment to creating spaces where young people feel valued and connected.

Artist

Wyndham artist Ayelet Brooks will transform the new youth space at Possy Newland Reserve. Ayelet is a talented local artist known for her community-focused projects and nature-inspired designs. Her work often celebrates connection, culture, and place. You may recognise her stunning mural at Point Cook Community Learning Centre, which brought colour and meaning to a much-loved community hub.

Local schools involved

To make this project even more special, Grade 5 and 6 students from Little River Primary School will have the opportunity to contribute to the mural during the opening celebrations. Selected elements will be created by these students, giving them a chance to leave their mark on a project that celebrates youth, creativity, and community.
