Café Philosophique explores the hidden forces shaping our lives through creative arts, writing and conversation.
We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Bridge Hotel in Werribee. We explore a new theme each night through a performance or workshop, feature poet, prompted creative writing, an open mic, and facilitated conversations.
On Wednesday March 18 we will explore DESIRE.
Does desire lead us towards our goals, or is it an all-consuming distraction? How does desire show up for you? Should we try to calm it, realise it, or live with it burning inside?
These are just some of the questions we will explore on the night!
We will begin with a clay sculpting workshop, using our hands, and maybe a little subconscious, to sculpt our deepest desires (keep them PG please!). We will then hear from our feature poet Thuy On, whose work draws on life's loves, losses and desires. Thuy's performance will set the scene for our own writing time, using prompts to help put pen to paper to explore our own relationship to the night's theme. After our open mic, we will end with delicious desserts and our "philosophy café" - small group, facilitated conversations where we listen and learn from each other about how we navigate desire within our lives.
