As the winter sun sets, Firefly Night Market returns to light up Tarneit with an unforgettable evening of food, entertainment, creativity and community.

Explore more than 70 market stalls, discover delicious street food from around the globe, and enjoy a vibrant program of live performances, interactive experiences and illuminated installations. Local favourite Little Growling Café returns with its cosy chai tent, offering the perfect place to warm up with a fragrant chai while soaking in the atmosphere.

This year's event features an exciting lineup of performers and experiences for all ages. Be captivated by the powerful rhythms of WALAKADO Taiko Drumming, meet the larger-than-life characters from Born in a Taxi, and witness the fiery spectacle of FACE's Fire Flame Spirit. Families can join in hands-on fun with Not My Circus, explore creative play spaces with Playable Streets, and enjoy the quirky entertainment of Burnt Sausages Saucetacular.

From glowing installations and roving performers to live music, cultural celebrations and community connections, Firefly Night Market promises a magical winter evening for everyone.

This is a free Wyndham City event.

Road Closures and Traffic Changes

To safely set up and run the Firefly Night Market, a temporary road closure and detours will be in place on Saturday 27 June:

  • Wickford Road will be partially closed between Penrose Promenade and Tarneit Road from 1pm to 11pm.
  • Bus Route 167 will be detoured during this time via Penrose Promenade, Ankuri Road and Tarneit Road.
  • Drive-through access to El Jannah restaurant will remain open.
  • Access to Tarneit Gardens Shopping Centre car park via Wickford Road will be maintained outside of the event duration 4pm-9pm. 
  • Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

Traffic management will be in place to guide motorists, pedestrians and cyclists safely through the area.

Getting There and Parking

Live Local?
If you live close by, we encourage walking to the event. It’s amazing to have an event in your own backyard so take advantage of the proximity to you and walk from home. 

Public Transport
The event is easy to get to by bus. The 167 Bus route will stop near the event via the detoured route and connects with Tarneit Train Station

This bus also connects with Hoppers Crossing Train Station and goes via Werribee Plaza

Bus Route 180 from Werribee Train Station will take you to Crossway Avenue near Tarneit College. The event is a 10 minute walk from there.

Car Parking
There is parking available on the street.

There is also parking in the following locations which are a 5 – 8 minute walk to the event site.

  • Only About Children Childcare Car Park, Turva Avenue, Tarneit
  • Goddard St Reserve Car Park, Goddard St, Tarneit
  • Tarneit Central Kindergarten, Brinbrook St, Tarneit

Traffic management officers will be present on the night assisting with parking management. 

Patrons are encouraged to park a short distance away and walk to the event.

Please be mindful of parking signs and don’t block driveways.

Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is available at Penrose Community Centre (outside the Ageing Well Facility) and Tarneit Gardens Shopping Centre (outside Chemist Warehouse).

Drop Off/Pick Up Zone
There will be a designated drop off and pick up zone located on Penrose Promenade.

What is Firefly Night Market?

Firefly Night Market brings together local artisans, makers and performers for one huge night of entertainment and supporting local. There will be more than 70 market stalls, food trucks, light installations, cultural performances, fire shows, roving performers and more.

You’re encouraged to bring the family, catch up with friends and enjoy a vibrant night of entertainment while supporting local. 

Is there an entry fee?

There is no entry fee and no bookings required.  This is a free Wyndham City event.

How do I apply to be a stallholder?

Market stalls and food truck sites are now fully booked. If you would like to go on the waiting list please email tarneit@wyndham.vic.gov.au

What happens if it rains?

Weather will be monitored in the lead up and throughout the event.

If there is extreme weather forecast in the days leading up to the event, messaging will be placed on the Wyndham City website www.wyndham.vic.gov.au and the Wyndham City Facebook page to alert attendees that elements may be moved, postponed or cancelled.

Will there be food available for purchase?

Yes, there is a wide selection of food trucks on the night with savoury and sweet offerings including gluten free, halal and vegan options. 

Do I need cash/card for purchases?

All market stalls and food trucks will have facilities for card payments.

What to bring?

Rug up and wear comfortable practical shoes. It may be a chilly night so layers and a rain jacket. The ground underneath can be uneven especially if there is rain prior, so practical footwear is highly recommended.

Is the event family friendly?

Yes, there is something on offer for all ages including kids’ activities and a parent’s room.

What measures can I take to ensure I’m quickly reunited with my child if we get separated?

Please make sure you supervise your children at all times.  Ensure your children have your contact details. These could be on a wristband, sticker, lanyard, or even written on their arm. Just make sure it’s easy for your kids, or event staff, to contact you should they get lost.

Take a picture of your children before you leave the house. If you are separated from your child when you are out, the photo can be used to provide an accurate description of what your child looks like to event staff. 

Point out the Information Marquee and event staff such as security and first aid personnel to your children so they know who to ask for help if they become separated from you. 

If you become separated from your child, please notify staff or security personnel immediately.

Can I bring my dog?

For their comfort and confidence, we recommend people leave their dogs at home. 

Whilst dogs are permitted in the park on a lead, we kindly ask that you consider the wellbeing of your pet before bringing them along. The event includes light installations, loud sounds from the stage and is expected to attract a large number of people. This kind of environment may be a lot for your dog to take in and we recommend keeping them at home in a comfortable and familiar environment.

Will there be additional toilet facilities on site?

Yes, additional toilets will be on site with one accessible toilet and a Parent’s Room. Toilets are also available at Tarneit Gardens Shopping Centre. 

Is filming or the event allowed? 

Live streaming or broadcasting of the event is not permitted. Commercial photography, filming and the use of drones at the event is not permitted without prior permission from Council. 

A Council photographer and videographer will be taking photographs and footage at the event. We’ll share these on our social media and websites. If you prefer not to be photographed, simply let our official event photographer and/or our event staff know on the night.

Accessibility & Inclusion

Yes, the park is accessible. However, it’s important to note the event is held in parkland and the ground can be quite uneven in places, unassisted wheelchairs may struggle in wet weather. 

There will be an accessible bathroom onsite.

There will be Auslan interpreters on the Main Stage.

We welcome visitors with assistance animals certified by a registered authority.

Is this event Sensory Friendly?

Yes, there is a low sensory space allocated – a Reset Room is available near Entry Gate B on Wickford Road. 

We recommend coming early for lower intensity as the event tends to be quieter in the first hour.

Conditions of Entry

Alcohol and Smoking
Alcohol and smoking are not permitted at this Wyndham City event.

Food
BYO food is permitted at this event.

Photography/Filming
Live streaming or broadcasting of this event is not permitted. Commercial photography is not permitted without prior permission from Council.

Children
Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Pets and Animals
Dogs are permitted at this event provided they are on a lead and supervised by their owner at all times. Owners must pick up after their dogs. All other pets and animals are not permitted.

Advertising and the Sale or Hire of Goods
Attendees are not permitted to sell or offer for sale or hire any items, nor to distribute handbills, pamphlets, notices or other advertising materials, without prior permission from Council.

Anti-social Behaviour
Anti-social behaviour is prohibited. This event is intended to be a family-friendly, safe and comfortable event for all attendees. Council requires that attendees behave in a safe, responsible and courteous manner at all times.

Free Activities
Many of the free activities at this event are run by local businesses and organisations. Council makes no guarantee about an activity’s quality or suitability. Attendees are responsible for deciding whether an activity is appropriate for themselves and/or their children.

Be SunSmart
It is recommended that attendees take proper SunSmart precautions at the event, including using sunscreen, wearing a hat, and staying hydrated.

Property
Attendees are responsible for all personal property brought to this event and must not leave their belongings unattended. Council reserves the right to remove any property left unattended at this event.

Bikes and E-Scooters  

Bicycles, motorised bikes, scooters, and e-scooters are not permitted to be ridden within the event area and must be walked or parked at the designated entrances. Please bring your own lock if parking, as items are left at your own risk. Exceptions apply for mobility scooters and aids. 

Photography/Filming

Photography and filming may occur at this event. 

All attendees are expected to act with care and respect when taking photos or videos. Where possible, consent should be sought before photographing or filming individuals. This is especially important when children are involved. If a person indicates they do not wish to be photographed or filmed, that request should be respected.

Photography and filming may be conducted by Wyndham City Council and attending media. Official Council photographers and videographers carry identification and use consent forms for close-up imagery. Crowd photography and filming may also take place. If you do not want your photo or your child’s photo taken, please let the photographer/videographer or a Council staff member know. 

The use of drones is not permitted at this event in line with CASA guidelines.

Compliance with Laws and Directions
Attendees must comply with all laws and follow any reasonable directions given by a Council officer, authorised event security personnel, or Police.

Cancellation and/or Modification of Event
Council reserves the right to cancel and/or modify this event. Any changes will be advised via Council’s website and the Wyndham City Facebook page.

Failure to Comply with Conditions of Entry
Failure to comply with these Conditions of Entry may result in an attendee being removed from the event and refused re-entry to the event and/or future Council events.

Changes to These Conditions
Council reserves the right to change these Conditions of Entry at any time.
