Wyndham City Libraries Tour – Expression of Interest

Students in Truganina Community Centre

Early years

Wyndham City Libraries Children’s team are very happy to offer free tours of our Libraries to local schools and kindergartens. Sessions are tailored to the age of the children and we talk about how the children can use the library.  We also incorporate some fun age-appropriate activities, such as scavenger hunts and reading stories together.

Please note that the Children’s Team will require a minimum of 4 weeks of notice to organise your library visit.

Complete the Expression of Interest Form.

Primary and High Schools

Our Education and Youth team love to work with local schools, teachers, and students to encourage literacy and learning for all young people in Wyndham. We offer general experiences, as outlined below, and can tailor experiences to your individual learning requirements.

Please explore our offerings for schools.

Book donations

As part of collection management, we, at times, remove books from our collection. If you are interested in potentially receiving donations for your school, you are welcome to send your contact details to libraryeducationoutreach@wyndham.vic.gov.au. We can add you to our mailing list when donations are available

Battle of the Books School Competition

Battle of the Books is a free, annual, structured reading challenge for Wyndham students in Grades 3–6 and High school. Points are earned by logging reading and participating in library/reading activities. The individual participants, classes, and school with the most points win!

Each year, hundreds of local students take part, logging hundreds of thousands of reading minutes and participating in thousands of activities. The things our students love most about our competition are having a reason to read, and competing against other schools! Best of all, our survey results found that 80% of our participants spent more time at home reading – a win for everyone.

Local schools are emailed to their general office email early each year. Everyone is welcome, from whole year levels, to individual classes. To be added to the list directly, please send your contact details to battleofthebooks@wyndham.vic.gov.au, and you’ll be contacted when the next competition opens.

To reach us, complete the school tour form above; alternatively, contact your local librarian directly via their email in our Teachers Guide, or at libraryeducationoutreach@wyndham.vic.gov.au.
