If you want to collect donations for a registered charity, you will need to get a permit.
There are two kinds of collections you can get permits for. They are:
- a street stall at one of the permitted street stall locations
- a collection at an intersection.
Street stall collections
You can apply for a permit to have a street stall at:
- Station Place, Werribee
- Piazza on Watton Street, Werribee
- Watton Street, Werribee
- Corner of Main Street and Murnong Street, Point Cook.
How to apply for a permit
To apply for a permit to collect for a charity at a street stall, you will need to provide:
- an extract from the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) showing your organisation is a registered charity
- a copy of your public liability insurance for a minimum of $20 million.
Intersection collections
Certain charities can apply for a permit to collect at intersections. The charities are:
- Red Cross/Red Shield
- Salvation Army
- Heart Foundation
- Royal Children’s Hospital (Good Friday Appeal only)
- ANZAC Appeal Cancer Council
- Legacy.
If your organisation is not one of the listed charities, consider getting a permit for a street stall instead.
How to apply for a permit
To apply for a permit to collect for a charity at an intersection, you will need to provide:
- an extract from the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) showing your organisation is a registered charity
- a copy of your organisation’s certificate issued by the ATO
- a copy of your public liability insurance for a minimum of $20 million.
