We are committed to making the permit process as easy as possible for new and growing businesses. Whether you are purchasing a new business or buying an existing business, it’s likely you will need a permit to operate – some businesses may need more than one permit.
How to apply
- Read through all the relevant information below and complete and submit your application form.
- Once you have submitted your application, it will be allocated to a Small Business Support Officer who will review your documents and advise if we need further information. This step can be delayed if not all correct information is provided. It’s important that you return the additional information as quickly as possible so we can process your application.
- An invoice will be processed and sent out to you for payment. Once you pay, it will be allocated out to an Environmental Health Officer who will contact you to arrange an inspection.
- If your premises is compliant at inspection, your business will be registered under the relevant Act until the expiry date.

Before submitting your application, you can optionally complete a Small Business Enquiry to find out what permits you may need from Council.
Register a food business premises
If you have a business that prepares or sells any food or drink, you will need to register with Wyndham City Council.
Register a health or beauty business
You will need to register a business that provides beauty services with Wyndham City Council.
Operate a temporary food premises like a food truck
You will need to register your mobile food business and get a permit to operate on council land.
Register a prescribed accommodation business
You will need to register with Wyndham City Council if you have a business that offers accommodation, including hotels, rooming houses, hostels or bed and breakfasts.
