National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

Wyndham’s celebrations will begin from Saturday 5 July and include:

  • Saturday 5 July, 7pm until late, Wyndham Cultural Centre, King Stingray & Electric Fields Concert
  • Wednesday 9 July, 12:30pm - 2:30pm, Hoppers Crossing Library, NAIDOC Movie Screening - "My Name is Gulpilil"
  • Thursday 10 July, 10:30am - 12:30pm, Wyndham Civic Centre, NAIDOC Flag Raising Event
  • Saturday 12 July, 10:30am - 12:00pm, Hoppers Crossing Library, NAIDOC Weaving Workshop

This year’s National NAIDOC Week marks 50 years of the week-long celebrations, and the theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, celebrates achievements of the past and the bright future ahead.
