Cr Kim McAliney represents Heathdale Ward and is a long-serving advocate for the Wyndham community.
A former two-time Mayor in 2007-2008 and 2011-2012, Cr McAliney previously served on Wyndham City Council from 2005 to 2012 and again from 2016 to June 2020, bringing extensive local government experience and a deep understanding of the municipality.
A qualified FCPA, Cr McAliney holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting, an Advanced Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management), a Diploma of Justice, and qualifications in Training and Assessment and Family Violence Studies.
She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has served as an Honorary Justice since 2003 and as a Justice of the Peace and Bail Justice since 2014.
Cr McAliney has worked across aged care and retirement living and is an experienced non-executive director. Her former board roles include nine years with the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust and service as a director of City West Water. She also works as a trainer in justice, community services and family violence risk.
Her contribution to the community has been recognised through Victoria University’s 2019 Alumni Meritorious Award and Crime Stoppers Victoria’s 2019 Mersina Halvagis Award for her contribution to a safer Victoria. Her volunteering includes operational support with the CFA, Court Network and Amber Community, where she supports road trauma education and facilitation.
As a mother of two grown sons and grandmother of two grandsons, Cr McAliney is passionate about supporting vulnerable community members whose voices may not always be heard. She is committed to ensuring Wyndham remains age-friendly, inclusive and supportive, and believes in recognising the vital contribution of emergency service personnel and volunteers across the municipality.
