You will need to register your caravan park or residential village with Wyndham City Council.
To register, you will need to:
- check if you need a planning or building permit
- prepare a site plan of your caravan park
- get all the documents you need and apply.
Check if you need a planning or building permit
You may need to get a planning permit or a building permit before you can register your caravan park.
Planning permits
You may need to get a planning permit to change the use of your premises.
For more information, see the Applying for a Planning permit section.
Building permits
If you are planning to do any building works to your premises, you will need to get a building permit.
See the Apply for a building permit page for more information.
Prepare a site plan of your caravan park
When you submit your registration form, you will need to supply us with a site plan of your caravan park. This might have different requirements to any plans you have to provide for your planning or building permit.
Your plan should be drawn to scale with dimensions and include:
- the locations of any buildings or facilities
- all long- and short-term sites and all camp sites.
Get all the documents you need and apply
To register a caravan park or transfer an existing permit, you will need to give us:
- a site plan
- the most recent report issued by a fire authority
- the schedule of works for the caravan park (if any)
- an emergency management plan developed to comply with regulation 20 of the Residential Tenancies (Caravan Parks and Moveable Dwellings Registration and Standards) Regulations 2024.
Once you have applied for registration, one of our officers will review your application. We will provide a response to your application and let you know if you need to make any changes to your plans.
We strongly suggest you do not begin construction until your application has been approved.
Prepare for an inspection
Once you have set up your caravan park and are ready to start operating, you will need to arrange for one of our environmental health officers to inspect your premises.
If your premises is suitable at inspection, you will be issued a certificate of registration.
Renewing your caravan park registration
Most caravan parks will need to renew their registration every three years.
We will send you a notice of your registration renewal about six weeks before the due date. As a part of your renewal, we will inspect the premises. This could happen at any time.
