On this page:
- lodge a Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier Compliance
- book an inspection with a Wyndham Pool inspector.
Your pool or spa barrier needs to be inspected every four years. This will need to be done before the due date listed on your registration documents or on any subsequent notice.
You can choose to get this done by:
- a private inspector
- an inspector from Wyndham City Council.
Getting an inspection with a private inspector
If you want to engage a private inspector, you should make sure they are registered with the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC). You can find a list of registered inspectors on the BPC website.
If you pass the inspection, you will be issued a Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier Compliance (CPSBC). You will then need to lodge it with us by filling in the form, attaching the certificate and paying the fee.
The CPSBC must be lodged within 30 days of issue. If you need more time, fill in the Extension of time for pool barrier compliance form.
Getting an inspection with a Wyndham pool barrier inspector
To book an inspection with a swimming pool/spa barrier inspector, fill in the Pool inspection appointment form and pay the fee.
If you pass the inspection, your inspector will issue a Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier Compliance (CPSBC) and lodge it for you.
What happens if you fail your inspection
You may be issued a Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier Non-compliance if your pool or spa:
- has large issues that cannot be fixed quickly
- poses a significant and immediate safety risk.
If the inspector finds minor issues, they may give you an opportunity to fix the issues before a set date. If the issues are not fixed before the follow-up inspection on the set date, you may be issued a Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier non-compliance.
If you are issued a Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier non-compliance, you will be required to pay the lodgement fee and reinspection fee until a compliance certificate can be issued.
Changing your applicable barrier standard
Your pool or spa barrier will be judged on a particular Australian standard. If your barrier is issued a certificate of non-compliance based on an older standard, but would comply with the current standard, you can apply to change the applicable standard. Your pool inspector will let you know if this is available to you.
How to lodge a certificate of non-compliance if you are a pool inspector
Only private pool inspectors should submit a Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier non-compliance.
