Apply to have your artwork installed at Tarneit Station as part of the Transporting Arts Program. Council, Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and V/Line invite an artist to create an artwork to be reproduced onto a wall of the underpass at the station.
Project Background
Wyndham City Council is inviting expressions of interest from artists who would like to develop an artwork for Tarneit Station as part of the Transporting Arts Program. Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) runs the Transporting Arts Program together with Metro Trains, Yarra Trams, V/Line and local councils. A $1,500 AUD (ex GST) artwork concepting fee and a $3,500 AUD (ex GST) licencing fee is provided to the successful Artist. The Artist will need to submit the final artwork in the required digital format. V/Line undertakes printing and installation. Project Objectives
- To present a visually engaging artwork in the built environment of Tarneit Station
- To represent and engage with the diverse local community, reflecting the history, community, and unique qualities of the local area
- To improve perceptions of safety of the transport network and local area, shown to be associated with beautification of transport environments and assets
- To showcase works by local artists

To encourage people to take public transport by improving the sense of welcome, sense of security and connection with their community
Responsibilities of successful applicant
Enter into a funding agreement with Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and comply with the terms and conditions of the funding agreement
Provide final artwork based on specifications outlined in the artist brief
- The final artwork file will need to be submitted by Friday 21st of August 2026
- Be willing to be filmed and/or photographed at the site once the artwork is installed
- Consent to the media being given information about the funded project and acknowledge that they may be contacted directly by the media
Selection criteria
- strength of creative vision;
- technical and logistical feasibility;
- how the artist responds to the context and local area;
- originality of artwork;
- aesthetic and public impact: visual and emotional.
