24-hour Cat Containment
Wyndham’s existing cat curfew from 10pm – 6am is being extended to 24-hour containment this year as part of the Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026 – 2029 which takes effect from 1 January 2026.
Pet Registration and Ownership
To help keep pets safe, all pet owners are required by law to microchip and register cats and dogs with their local council once they are 3 months old.

Wyndham City introduced mandatory cat desexing on 2 January 2017.

Animal Permits
Under Wyndham City’s Community Amenity Local Law a permit is required when a property has more than the permitted amount of animals (e.g. more than 1 dog & 3 cats, more than 2 dogs & 2 cats etc.).
