Wyndham City Council will be undertaking a bin boundary realignment in October 2026 to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its waste collection services. This involves adjusting the existing collection zones to better align with current road networks, population growth and service demand.
Approximately 25,000 residents will have a change to their bin collection. The biggest shift will be for people currently on Tuesday and Friday, who will mostly move to the day before - Monday and Thursday.
The realignment will optimise collection routes, reduce travel time and fuel consumption, and support more consistent service delivery across the municipality. As a result, some households will experience changes to their bin collection day or servicing arrangements.
Importantly, there will be no change to the types of waste services provided (e.g. general waste, recycling, and green waste), only the scheduling and routing of collections.

FAQs
What is a bin boundary realignment?
It’s when Council adjusts waste collection zones to improve how bin collections are scheduled and delivered across the area.
Why is this happening?
To make waste collection more efficient, reduce travel time and emissions, and ensure services keep up with population growth and changing needs.
What does this mean for me?
You may have a new bin collection day or slight changes to when your green lid or yellow lid bins are collected.
Will my bins or services change?
No. You’ll keep the same bins (general waste, recycling, green waste) and the same services.
When will the changes happen?
The changes will be in place from Monday 12 October 2026
How will I know if I’m affected?
Residents affected will receive direct communication from Council. You can also search your address in the map above to see if your bin collection has changed.
What do I need to do?
If your collection day changes, simply start putting your bins out on the new scheduled day. If your green waste and recycling collection days are swapped just put out your bin on the new week.
