Join our Birdwatching for Beginners workshop and discover the joy of birdwatching. This interactive session will introduce participants to the basics of bird identification, including how to recognize common local species, where to find them, and how to record your bird sightings to support urban conservation work. We’ll also share practical bird watching tips, from using binoculars effectively to observing bird behaviour in the field.
After the indoor introduction session, we’ll head out on a guided wetland walk around Heathdale Glen Orden wetlands where participants will take part in a real bird survey, helping record the species we observe along the way. Whether you’re completely new to birding or simply curious about the wildlife around you, this is a great opportunity to learn, explore nature, and connect with the community.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, and dress for the weather conditions. Some binoculars will be available for use on the day but you are welcome to bring your own if you have them.
