All Health, Wellness & Fitness providers and networks are encouraged to submit content to be included in the bi-monthly FitHub eNewsletter. This can be success stories about Wyndham residents, new programs targeting a specific cohort, new collaborations and special events.
2020 Engagement Calendar
Following feedback collected from Wyndham Providers through a survey in 2019, Sport and Recreation have created the annual Engagement Calendar to enhance the opportunities Providers have to engage with Council through services including training, marketing and access to networking opportunities. These training sessions, tools and networking opportunities are provided free of charge to all Wyndham Health, Wellness & Fitness Providers. Further eligibility may apply for certain sessions.

Volunteering and Grants
Wyndham Community Health Grant - The Point Cook Football Club (PCFC) are establishing a Wellbeing and Fitness Club through an inaugural women’s group pilot programme. The Wellbeing and Fitness Club will run a pilot 12-week programme for two nights per week engaging a Wyndham based Fitness business to conduct the sessions.
One night per week will be dedicated to the Wellness aspect with specialist presenters confirmed for topics including Nutrition, Women’s hormones, Mental Health (including identification of children’s mental health), Nutrition for kids, Pre and Post Natal Health and Physical Health. The alternate night will be a fitness night run by professional trainers on topics including Learn to Run, Yoga, Wellfit Mums, Self Defence and Fitness for differing age groups.
Active After Hours
A new initiative to help Wyndham residents get more active, more often – we’re keeping the lights turned on outside of the normal hours at some of our sporting facilities.
This will allow more members of the community to use facilities and be more active.

Support from Wyndham City's Economic Growth Department
Wyndham City's Economic Growth Department is committed to assisting in the development of a vibrant and sustainable local economy.
They offer a range of services and support for small, home-based, medium or large businesses in Wyndham and can put you in touch with other businesses and industry groups in the region.

You can make an appointment to meet with a member of Wyndham City’s Economic Growth Unit to get information about Council services and assistance as well as other government support for new small business.
Wyndham City offers a free small business development program called ‘Innovate to Excelerate’ to help small businesses grow. This popular program has been running since 2018 and includes group training sessions and one-on-one coaching with experienced business coaches.
To be eligible, your business needs to be based in Wyndham and have been operating for a minimum of 12 months up to 4 years (approximately).
The next Innovate to Excelerate program will be held from March to June 2020. To register your interest and be advised about when applications open email email@example.com.
NEIS Information Session
The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) is an Australian Government program that helps people not in employment, education or training into self-employment. These sessions are held 2:00pm-3:00pm every second Tuesday of the month.
The NEIS program includes:
- Small business management training (you will develop a comprehensive business plan)
- Mentor support for up to 12 months from experienced small business advisers
- Income support for nine months (if eligible)
- Rent assistance for up to 26 weeks (if eligible)
All small business training and mentor support is fully subsidised with no associated cost to the participant.
Your business idea must not be already operating on a commercial basis, it must have an independent business structure and meet legal requirements at all levels of government.
Who is eligible?
- You must be unemployed
- Not in any full time education or training
- Have a commercially viable business idea
- Over 18 years of age

Free Business Counselling
Wyndham City offers a free and confidential one-on-one 45 minute session with an experienced business counsellor from the Kangan Institute’s Business Enterprise Centre. General business advice and referrals can be obtained at the session.

Wyndham City offers a range of support to business owners. These include the services below that may be of particular interest to new starters.
Active Kids is a Wyndham City Council initiative free to schools, designed to be a fun way to encourage healthy eating habits and increased physical activity in children aged 8-10 years (grade 3 & 4) attending primary schools across the Wyndham municipality.
The Active Kids program offer opportunities for Wyndham Providers to connect with partner schools through the delivery of clinics, providing collateral and/or offering opportunities for grade 3 & 4 to be active outside of school.

Healthy & Active Expo
Wyndham City’s annual Healthy and Active Expo showcases sports, fitness and wellbeing activities in within local neighbourhoods during September& October.
Each year Wyndham partner with a variety of providers including Health, Wellness & Fitness businesses, Sports Clubs and community organisations to deliver free events, clinics and ‘come and try’ sessions for all ages and abilities.
