Register an aquatic facility

You will need to register with Wyndham City Council if you operate a swimming pool or spa as part of your business. 

This could include: 

  • swim schools 
  • spas 
  • fitness clubs 
  • aged care facilities.

Register your aquatic business

Once you have applied for registration, one of our officers will review your application. If required, we may then be in touch to:  

  • request extra information 
  • book an initial site inspection.  

If you manage a hotel or another kind of accommodation with a pool, you may not need to register your pool as an aquatic business. Call us on 1300 023 411 to find out more. 

Check if you need a planning or building permit

You may need to get a planning permit or a building permit before you can register your aquatic business.  

Planning permits

You may need to get a planning permit to change the use of your premises.

Building permits

If you are planning to do any building works to your premises, you will need to get a building permit.  This includes: 

  • pool or spa installation 
  • renovations.

Get all the documents you need and apply

To register your aquatic business, you will need to supply a water quality risk management plan. Find out more about water quality risk management plans at the Department of Health website. 

Once you have prepared the water quality risk management plan, you can apply to register your aquatic business.

Prepare for an inspection

Once your application has been submitted and paid, one of our environmental health officers will contact you to arrange a time to inspect your premises. 

If your premises is suitable at inspection, you will be issued a certificate of registration.

Renewing your aquatic business registration

Most aquatic businesses will need to renew their registration every year. 

We will send you a notice of your registration renewal about six weeks before the due date. Once you have paid the renewal fee, we will inspect the premises.
