School Holidays in Werribee City Centre

From art to adventure, there’s plenty to explore in Werribee City Centre these school holidays. Plan your visit, stay a little longer and entertain the kids with these free to low-cost activities to enjoy this winter.  
 

Feed their imaginations with Polyglot Theatre’s immersive playgrounds, Paper Planet and Sound of Drawing, at Wyndham Art Gallery from 7-11 of July.

Combining art with sound and sculpture, the installations invite children and families to explore worlds of their own, jam-packed with fantastical stories, magical soundscapes and crafty adventures. Everyone is encouraged to add their own special touch – or scribble. Session times run daily in the early evenings, no bookings required.
 

Escape the cold and nestle into the art of the craft this winter at Werribee Library. Dive into a range of activities from bookmark-making and kids’ yoga to a fascinating dinosaur experience from Museums Victoria. Experience the family-friendly fun and kickstart your creative hobbies free of charge! Bookings required for some activities.

Experience an exciting winter lineup of performances at the Wyndham Cultural Centre, with entertainment for all ages. Kids will love the fun of the The Alphabet of Awesome Science Sunday June 28. Room on The Broom on Monday July 6, is adapted from the best-selling children’s picture book. 

For music lovers, see The Melbourne Chamber Orchestra’s Wurrtoo or Under the Canopy on Saturday July 11, a vibrant program showcasing the wonders of the accordion. Secure your tickets online, with prices ranging from $15 - $40. See the full program here.  

Rug up for a family adventure with a walk or ride around Werribee River Trail’s lush gum trees and wildlife. Begin your journey from either President’s Park, West End Car Park or Werribee Train station for a 2-to-8-kilometre trip return. Public toilets, drinking fountains and playgrounds surround, with barbeques and picnic tables available for a quiet pit stop or bite to eat along the way.

Visit one of the city centre’s array of local cafes and cozy up with the kids and a warm beverage. Sip your way down Watton St and enjoy a taste of its bold espressos, velvety hot chocolates and even a babycino or two – perfect takeaway for a frosty winter morning.

Join in on a thrilling round of local footy as Werribee faces Southport Sharks on Saturday July 4 at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval. Grab a hot drink and join in on the community spirit for Round 15, with first bounce at 11:05AM. Tickets are priced at $5-$10, kids 12 and under free.

Take the kids on an interactive art tour of Werribee City Centre, to see colourful murals down hidden laneways. Each stop has a QR code where you can find out more about each piece. The colourful murals provide a great backdrop for some fun school holiday pics and memories. 

The hour-long walk begins at the Wyndham Cultural Centre and finishes at Holiday Inn Werribee, with 8 stops.  Take a break at a nearby café if the kids are feeling peckish. Visit the audio recordings here.

Chase a thrill or wind down for a quiet picnic at Wyndham Park’s playground surrounded by the Werribee River’s bright gum trees. Only around the corner from The Werribee Skate Park, the space accommodates for all ages and personalities, from small sandpit features to exciting flying foxes. Venture into town, only a 5-minute walk, and pop in for a takeaway treat for a family picnic on the lawn.
