Wyndham City Council has welcomed a number of investments in the Allan Labor Government’s 2026–27 State Budget that will support residents across Melbourne’s west and improve public transport affordability and services for the Wyndham community, but more needs to be done.
Key investments include:
- $77.5 million to deliver more train services, including two additional services per hour during morning and afternoon peaks on the Werribee Line
- $14.8 million to boost capacity on the Wyndham Vale Line through longer nine-car trains during peak periods
- $100 million to expand bus hours and weekend services, deliver new and upgraded routes in growing suburbs, and improve connections to universities — including upgrades to Routes 496 and 498 between Laverton Station and Aircraft
- $6.9 million for the re-coordination of buses along the Warrnambool and Geelong Lines to align with new rail timetables associated with the opening of West Tarneit Station
And various rebates and cost of living relief measures.
Wyndham City Council Mayor Preet Singh said while these investments would provide welcome relief and improvements for residents, Wyndham’s rapid population growth means significant infrastructure gaps remain.
“We welcome the investments that will improve public transport services, reduce household costs and support residents across Melbourne’s west,” Cr Singh said.
“However, one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Australia continues to require substantial investment in critical local infrastructure to ensure our community can keep pace with growth.”
Council’s pre-budget submission outlined a range of major projects across all four State electorates within Wyndham that remain priorities for the community, including:
- Truganina Railway Station
- Riverdale Aquatic Centre
- Redevelopment of the Werribee Railway Station
- Wyndham Ring Road
“For our residents, these projects are not aspirational, they are essential,” Cr Singh said.
“As Wyndham continues to grow, we need continued partnership and investment from all levels of government to deliver the roads, public transport, community infrastructure and services our residents need and deserve.”

With the November 2026 Victorian State Election approaching, Wyndham City Council will continue to advocate strongly for the delivery of critical infrastructure projects that support the future of our growing community.
