WYNDHAM’S YOUNG PERSON OF THE MONTH – MAY

Wyndham City is proud to announce Busolami Bello as the One Wyndham recipient for May.

Busolami uses her voice and experiences to represent and uplift diverse communities.

She is a Community Captain at her high school and promotes inclusion and unity. Busolami organises events that support and engage students and the wider community through initiatives focused on inclusion, equality and fostering a strong sense of community including Harmony Week and Cultural Diversity week.

Busolami founded and leads the feminist club at her high school. She wanted to create a safe space where students could engage in discussions around gender inequality, youth empowerment and social justice. Also organising a sanitary item donation drive to support women in need, helping to address period poverty and raise awareness about an often-overlooked issue.

These initiatives reflect Busolami’s commitment to creating meaningful change by encouraging young people to feel seen, valued, respected and included, regardless of their background, identity or experiences.

Through her leadership, she provides guidance, advice and support to young people and creates opportunities for them to grow, build confidence and participate in expressing their ideas and that young people are not only heard but actively involved in decision-making processes.

Wyndham City’s Deputy Mayor Cr Jasmine Hill said “Busolami is a positive role model and actively encourages inclusion and unity within the Wyndham community.”

“Wyndham City appreciates Busolami’s contribution and thanks her for championing diverse voices and for empowering young people so they are actively involved in decision-making processes.” said Cr Hill
