On Monday 26 January 2026, Wyndham came together at Dunnings Road Reserve in Point Cook to celebrate Australia Day with a free, family-friendly community event hosted by Wyndham City. Around 2,000 residents attended throughout the day, enjoying a celebration that highlighted community connection, diversity and local pride.
Despite warm summer conditions, the reserve was alive with activity. Local sporting clubs, including Wyndham Lacrosse Club, Wyndham Basketball Association, Point Cook Football Club and Point Cook Cricket Club, engaged the community with interactive activities and demonstrations, showcasing the important role grassroots sport plays in building wellbeing and inclusion.
The stage program featured a lively mix of performances, including Groovy Face Entertainment, Woody’s World, Afro Fusion, Reckless – Australian Crawl Tribute Band, and the Big City Beat Band, alongside roving performers Dr Hubble’s Bubbles and Born In a Taxi, with creative activities by The Furals adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.
A key highlight was the presentation of the 2026 Wyndham Citizen of the Year Awards, recognising outstanding community contributions.
This event continues Wyndham City’s practice of rotating Australia Day celebrations across the municipality, ensuring communities across Wyndham have the opportunity to come together and celebrate.
