If you need to replace or build a fence that adjoins land owned by Wyndham City Council, you can apply for a contribution to your fencing costs.
Who is eligible
We may contribute to your fencing costs if your fence is next to:
- a park or recreation reserve owned by Wyndham City Council
- a dog off-leash area
- a Wyndham City Council kindergarten, community centre or other venue.
Fences that are not eligible for contribution
We will not contribute to fencing costs when the fence:
- is next to a road, nature strip or road reserve
- has been damaged by a tree on your property.
How to apply
To apply for a fencing contribution, you will need to provide a minimum of two quotes from fencing contractors.
Apply for a fencing contribution
We will not consider fencing contribution applications if the work has already begun.
What happens next
We will assess your application and provide written confirmation of our decision. Once we have provided confirmation, you can begin work.
If your fence is beside a kindergarten, you will need to wait until the kindergarten is closed before beginning work. This could be during a weekend or during a holiday period.
Community centres and other venues have their own schedules of when work can be done. We will let you know when you can begin work on your fence.
Requirements for fences
If your fence is taller than 2 metres, you will be responsible for any extra costs associated with the works.
If you are intending to put a pedestrian gate in the fence, you will need to let us know when you apply. Your pedestrian gate will need to be no wider than 1m and must be for pedestrian use only.
Any structures that are attached to the fence may affect how much we will contribute. This could include things like pergolas, garden trellis or anything that relies on the fence for support.
