Register a new swimming pool or spa

If you have installed a new pool or spa on your property, you will need to register it with Wyndham City Council within 30 days of completion.

It is your responsibility to make sure your pool is safe for everyone. It only takes 20 seconds for a child to drown in a swimming pool or spa.

Register your swimming pool or spa

If you have an existing pool that is due for an inspection, you do not need to register it again. Instead, you will need to submit a certificate of barrier compliance. See Get a pool barrier inspection for more information.

Requirements for your pool or spa

In order to be registered, your pool must meet the requirements of the Building Regulations 2018. This means your pool must:

  • be surrounded by a suitable fence or barrier that complies with the applicable Australian standards, with a gate that is in full working order
  • be registered within 30 days of completion
  • be inspected every four years.

For more information about the requirements for your swimming pool and spa fence or barrier, see the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) website.
