Netball is one of the most popular community sports in Victoria, particularly for women and girls, and plays an important role in supporting physical activity, social connection and community wellbeing.
Wyndham is experiencing increasing pressure on local sporting infrastructure. Facilities such as Eagle Stadium and Mossfiel Reserve are already heavily utilised by local clubs, competitions and training programs.
However, the current outdoor court configuration limits the reliability and consistency of netball programming throughout the year. During winter months, wet weather regularly disrupts training and competition schedules, leading to cancellations, fixture congestion and reduced participation opportunities for local players and clubs.
Providing canopy coverage over the courts at Eagle Stadium and Mossfiel Reserve will support year-round participation, increase access for women and girls, and maximise the value of existing community infrastructure while helping Wyndham meet the growing demand for local sport and recreation opportunities.
