Have you ever wanted to be able to run? Would you like to exercise for FREE anytime, anywhere? Does running seem a bit too hard? Have you struggled to find a group to join due to timing being difficult?

Active Wyndham's popular beginner running course is back! An 11 week running course for beginners.

How to get involved:

  • Taster session (Monday 6 October) - Try our first session – a gentle intro with no commitment. If you enjoy it, come back next week!😉
  • Parts 1 and 2: The course is in 2 parts - 5 weeks and then 6 weeks. Stop at week 5 if you feel you have progressed enough or carry on and complete the final 6 weeks.
  • Join in at Part 2: If you have run before but need help to get started again, can run 8 minutes, walk 5 minutes, run 8 minutes - join us for Part 2.

Complete the whole 11 weeks and you will be running for 35 minutes/ close to 5km!

What is it?

  • This course is an 11 week running plan, join the weekly group session and complete 2 more run-walks (homeworks) on your own between group sessions.
  • Each week the running increases a little helping you to become stronger and better runners, and reduce potential injury. Our course takes you to 35 minutes running.
  • Meet like-minded people to make the journey together.
  • Sessions start at 7.30pm ( arrive 10 minutes early to check in so the session can start on time)
  • Aged 13 years to adult, bring your teenager and do the course together!! Under 16s must have an adult attend with them. (Please no under 13s.)
  • The course will go out onto the surrounding footpaths to run longer intervals from about half way through, please be prepared to explore outside of the oval.

What happens?

Sessions last up to an hour. Starting with a warm-up and some mobility exercises then the main session: a combination of running and walking. Each week the run times become longer and walking less. We end with a cool down and stretch. At the end of the course the group may take part in a local 5k/ parkrun together. Please ask your leader any questions at any time. Why not meet up with one of your new running buddies and tackle your 'homeworks' together?

Each week we provide you with a different exercise to help strengthen key running muscles and help to prevent injury.

What ticket do I book? - ONLY BOOK 1 TICKET per person

  • Taster and/ or Part 1/ whole course - if you think you would like to just try the Taster and see how you go, or sign up for more of the course, then book this option
  • Part 2 - if you would like to join us at 10 minutes run, 3 minutes walk, 10 minutes run

Dates:

  • Monday 6 October - Taster Session (week 1)
  • Monday 3 November - success, part 1 finished! (note this is the day before the Public holiday)
  • Monday 10 November - week 6 (Part 2 starts)
  • Monday 15 December - week 11

If you have a holiday planned, take your trainers and the plan with you.
