Frequently Asked Questions
individuals are all welcome to apply for bookings.
Is there a cost involved? For most community groups, local organisations, and not-for-profits, there is little to no cost to use the space — fees are assessed based on your event type and who you are. Commercial, private, and for-profit events are charged a flat fee. If you're unsure where your event sits, just get in touch placemaking@wyndham.vic.gov.au
What types of events work well in this space? The park is a great fit for community workshops, kids' and youth activities, local fitness sessions, cultural celebrations, music performances, and events led by locals.
How many people can I have at my event? The maximum capacity is 350 people at any one time.
What amenities does the park have? The space includes shade structures, movable tables and chairs, festoon lighting, and electrical power points — including standard, 15 amp, and 3-phase options. Stockland toilets a short distance from the space are also available during centre trading hours.
Can I play music at my event? Yes! Music is welcome. The space has an audio system you can access for pre-recorded music, which can be arranged through Stockland. If you're bringing portable speakers, please keep them pointed inward and at a volume where nearby people can still have a conversation. Live music or PA setups will need to be discussed with Council when booking.
What documents will I need to apply? At a minimum, you'll need to submit:
- A short description of your event
- Event site plan
- Risk management plan
- Emergency plan
- Bump-in and bump-out schedule
- Public Liability Insurance (minimum $20M cover)
A cleaning plan is also required if your event involves messy activities such as paint, slime, or colour powder.
How do I book the Point Cook Pop Up Park? Bookings are managed by Wyndham City Council. To get started, submit an enquiry via Council's online booking portal.
How far in advance do I need to apply? For most events, submitting your formal enquiry through our booking portal at least 10 weeks before your event date will give you plenty of time. If you're planning a larger or more complex event, we recommend getting in touch with our Placemaking team for an early conversation — up to 6 months out can be helpful to make sure everything is in order. Either way, the earlier the better.
What events aren't suitable for this space? The park isn't designed for for-profit activity, alcohol consumption or sales, fireworks or open flames, or events that require exclusive or ticketed access. This is always a public space — it stays open to everyone, even during your booking.
Not sure if your event is the right fit, or want to know more? Our Placemaking team is happy to talk through your idea, answer questions, or help you figure out your next step. Reach out at placemaking@wyndham.vic.gov.au — even a rough idea is enough to get started. For general guidance on running events in Wyndham, you can also visit our Events and Filming in Wyndham page.

The History of the Park
The Point Cook Pop Up Park was successfully piloted in 2018, catalysed through Melbourne placemaking consultancy CoDesign Studio's Neighbourhood Project, with the vision of creating a focal point for community connection and support for local traders. From the outset, the project was built on a partnership between Wyndham City Council, Stockland Point Cook, the Victorian State Government, and Point Cook community groups and members.
CoLocal, a Point Cook-based not-for-profit, played a central role in the ongoing management and activation of the space — supported by dedicated community volunteers who helped bring it to life year after year. In 2023, the park underwent a revitalisation through joint funding from Stockland, the Victorian State Government's Living Local Fund, and Wyndham City Council. Wyndham City Council has now opened community bookings from mid-2026, in partnership with Stockland Point Cook, ensuring the park remains open, accessible, and community led.
